Ohio State Parks now have a central reservation system in place. For
camping or cabin reservations at Ohio State Parks call 1-866-644-6727 Or visit
online at www.ohiostateparks.org
Q. Can I reserve a
campsite at Mt. Gilead State Park at Mt. Gilead State Park?
A. NO. In order to make a
reservation you must call the central Reservation Call Center OR you can go
online at www.ohiostateparks.org to
make a reservation online.
Q. Does it cost extra to make a reservation?
A. Yes, there is an eight-dollar fee per reservation.
It does not matter if you plan to reserve for 1 night or 14 nights (the
limit per stay); the fee is just $8.00 for that reservation.
If at the same time you make a second reservation for a later date,
whether it be for 1 day or several, there will be an $8.00 fee for that
reservation also, as with each additional reservation.
Q. If I make a reservation, am I required to occupy that site even if I
don’t like it?
A. Yes, this is the general rule. However, if the camp office is open, you may check with
office staff to see if a site change is possible. Often times it is possible but
can only be confirmed and approved by camp office staff. Please DO NOT set up on a site other than the one reserved
for you unless it has been approved by staff.
It may already be reserved for someone else, and you will have to move.
Q. Do I have to reserve a campsite, or can I still walk in and rent a
site?
A. Campsites 1-6 (non-pet sites) and 56-60 (pet sites) are walk-in sites. If
you come in when the camp office is closed and you use self-registration, you
are required to occupy one of the walk-in sites.
Once the camp office is open, you may check with staff to see if a site
change is possible. If you walk in and the camp office is open, they can rent you
any site that is shown as available on the system at that time. You must check
with the camp staff BEFORE setting up on any site marked as reservable.
Q. Can I still call in and do a same day registration using my credit
card as payment?
A. No. We can no longer accept same day registrations over the phone. You
must be at the camp office in person using either self-registration on walk-in
sites (ONLY), OR check with camp office staff, if they are open, for site
availability.
Q. When reserving a campsite through the call center, do I
have to pay for all of the nights reserved, or can I pay the first night, then
pay the rest at the park when I arrive?
A. When reserving, you must pay for all nights that you wish to stay.
Q. Are there requirements as to how many nights I have to take when I
reserve?
A. Campsites can be rented for minimums of:
1 night during weekdays – Sunday through Thursday
2 nights during weekends – Thurs-Fri, Fri-Sat, Sat-Sun
3 nights during holidays – Fri, Sat, Sun
These past few months, Golden Buckeye has issued new cards to
Golden Buckeye holders. Camp office
staff has been advised that we are to NO LONGER ACCEPT the old GB cards.
The new cards are plastic, like a credit card. On the back they have prescription information and a barcode as well as the Golden Buckeye number. I have noticed that on all the new cards I have seen, the Golden Buckeye number begins with a GB.
If someone still has the old card, we CANNOT give the discount. Direct them to go to the Library or Senior Centers where cards are issued to apply for a new card. They will be given a temporary card that they can use until their new one arrives.
